The mountains of Montroig are located in a contact area between Lleida plain (Central Depression) and the foothills of the Pyrenees. This is the reason why the landscape of Montroig owns a very rich natural heritage. In this sense, one of the most important and beautiful places is the confluence between Segre and Noguera Pallaresa rivers.
On the south side of the mountains there is the cave called Cova del Tabac (180 m of surface area), declared World Heritage by UNESCO, where you can access it through a marked trail.
Another outstanding proposal is a trip to the cave Cova de la Maçana. During the excursion, from Serra Carbonera hill you can have a magnificent view of the Lleida plain area. From this area you can also have access to the Mu gorge through a pass that runs, in several sections, by a catwalk hanging from the rock wall.
Very different from the mountainous landscape is the path that goes around the Sant Llorenç de Montgai reservoir, declared as Nature Reserve Wildlife. Is not just a path with a very high scenic value but very relevant for its ornithological interest; this is the reason why there is a bird watching point.
A part from discovering the surroundings walking or by bike, there are multiple choices to do sport in calm and rough waters, such as kayak. There is also the possibility to discover the landscape doing a balloon trip.
